No blog post yesterday, the reason being, the process of moving houses has begun.
So, here’s a very short one for you guys, just look forward to the next one, or something.
Word(s) of the Week
- fen – a low and marshy or frequently flooded area of land.
- desperado – a desperate or reckless person, especially a criminal.
- languor – the state or feeling, often pleasant, of tiredness or inertia.
- gallipot – a small pot made from glazed earthenware or metal, used by pharmacists to hold medicines or ointments.
- gig – a light, fast, narrow boat adapted for rowing or sailing.
- bandoleer – a shoulder-belt with loops or pockets for cartridges.
- snuffbox – a small ornamental box for holding snuff.
- sordid – involving ignoble actions and motives; arousing moral distaste and contempt.
- morass – an area of muddy or boggy ground.
- avast – stop; cease
- lee shore – 1. a shore lying on the leeward side of a ship (and on to which a ship could be blown in foul weather).
- imprecation – a spoken curse.
- bough – a main branch of a tree.
- sally – a sudden charge out of a besieged place against the enemy; a sortie.
- boarder – a person who boards a ship during or after an attack.
